North of Superior
This area stretches from the Pigeon River border crossing north to the Albany River, east of White River to English River in the west. Host to one leg of the Lake Superior Circle Tour, where you will find over 500 nautical miles of the rugged, craggy coast of the world’s largest fresh water lake. Old growth pine, deciduous and coniferous forest, smooth blue lakes with bountiful fish and rocks polished by glaciers over centuries are landscape features. Relive the wild and wooly glory days of the fur trade at Fort William Historical Park. From delicate lavender to rich midnight hues, the amethyst of northwestern Ontario is a treasure of purple. Hunt for your own semi-precious stone at one of the many mines.
